5 of the best Reasons to get a cleaner

31/10/2018

There are many different reasons why you might consider engaging the services of a professional cleaning company every person is unique and has their own personal reasons but here are some of the top universal truths about cleaning services.
Picture

1 More Time

There is no question if you hire a professional to take care of the cleaning, tidying, washing, laundry and ironing jobs that you normally do then you are effectively buying yourself time. Time to do whatever takes your fancy form getting out and about, spending more time with friends and family, time to work on your profession or perhaps even time to spend on other domestic jobs that might otherwise get over looked. We have one customer who uses the two hours a week she saves on cleaning to cook. She loves cooking but with one thing and the other rarely used to find time. Now she has made time she has got back to preparing healthy delicious meals for her family.

2 More Money

It might sound counter intuitive but for most people hiring a cleaner makes good economic sense. At QuickCleaner most of our cleans cost between £9-10 per hour. If your hourly rate in your job is more than this then it does not make economic sense that you should work at home for less than you do in your profession. Couple this with the fact that our cleaners normally achieve much more in the allotted time than you could because they are not distracted by being in their own home and because their skills and experience allow them to work far more efficiently than the lay person.

3 Better Cleaning

At QuickCleaner we only supply fully vetted, highly skilled professional cleaners. this means that they are usually able to achieve a far higher standard of cleaning than you might be used to. You wouldn't expect to be able to cut your own hair better than a professional and the same goes for cleaning your home

4 Nicer Home

With your house spotlessly clean you will find it easier to relax and unwind and truly enjoy being in your castle. Most of our clients agree that coming home the day the cleaner has been is the best day of the week!

5 Better Home Management

Having a cleaner can change the way you think about managing your home. The regularity of the cleaners visits and the time you spend planning what you want them to concentrate on can help you to prioritise what is most important to you and your family.  Do you have a set routine for when your bedding gets changed? If not getting a cleaner will force you to create that routine. suddenly you will have a regular weekly or bi-weekly day that you know all bedding is changed without fail. Same with the fridge, you might decide so set a weekly day that all dates on food in the fridge are check and sorted. You also have a professional to consult once you take on a cleaner and they can help you plan and decide what needs doing when.

Of course there are many other good reasons to hire a cleaner but those are some of the big ones. If you want to learn more about how getting a cleaner works and how much it costs please don't hesitate to get in contact and we will be glads to walk you through it.

The News we have all been waiting for...The 'five second rule' is real! Yeah Science!

30/10/2018

We have all done it, dropped something we were really enjoying eating on the floor. You quickly scoop it up and maybe blow some dust off it....then the dilemma. Can you still eat it?
Picture
This is where urban myth comes in - the legendary five second rule. Simply put: If you pick it up off the floor within five seconds it is safe to eat. The germs don't have time to climb on or something.
Picture
You may have this was just an excuse we use because we really want that bit of food until now and a group of scientists have finally started looking at what matters and they have discovered....drum roll......the five second rule is real!

Researchers as Aston University led by Anthony Hilton, Professor of Microbiology, set up a study that measured the transfer of the common bacteria E Coli and Staphylococcus aureus from different types of floor (carpet, laminate and tiled surfaces) onto several different types of food from dry toast to sticky sweets after being dropped for different amounts of time from 3 to 30 seconds.
Picture
The results showed that:

  • Time is the biggest factor in the amount of bacteria transferred
  • Bacteria are least likely to transfer from carpeted surfaces (that one surprised us) and most likely to transfer from hard floors to moist foods making contact for more than 5 seconds.

Professor Hilton said: “Consuming food dropped on the floor still carries an infection risk as it very much depends on which bacteria are present on the floor at the time; however the findings of this study will bring some light relief to those who have been employing the five-second rule for years, despite a general consensus that it is purely a myth.
"We have found evidence that transfer from indoor flooring surfaces is incredibly poor with carpet actually posing the lowest risk of bacterial transfer onto dropped food."

The Aston team also carried out a survey to find out how gross people really are and they found out

  • 87% of people surveyed said they would eat food dropped on the floor, or already have done so
  • 81% of the women who would eat food from the floor would follow the 5 second rule

Professor Hilton added:“Our study showed that a surprisingly large majority of people are happy to consume dropped food, with women the most likely to do so. But they are also more likely to follow the 5 second rule, which our research has shown to be much more than an old wives' tale.”

A Clean House is a sign of a wasted life

A clean house is a sign of a wasted life - its an age old proverb and very true.....sort of. Its not demeaning the work of cleaning or the value of a clean house what it is saying is that we need to spend life living not preparing to live. If you rush home from work on a Friday night to get a head start on the hoovering instead of joining the office in the pub or if your entire weekend is swallowed up with scrubbing and polishing and cleaning grime from nooks and cranny's it stands to reason you won't have spent much time experiencing the billions of things this wonderful world has to offer.
Picture
How about if the kids want to bake cakes but you can't let them because you are dreading the clean up operation after. Where does it lead us - stop cleaning start living. Trouble is your relief won't last long. Its a bit like quitting work to concentrate on living, pretty soon the money will run out and it becomes a whole lot harder to enjoy your life. There is nothing nice or comfortable about living in a dirty, unclean, cluttered house. It doesn't need to be showroom perfect but constantly looking through grimy windows will always put a unique depressing filter on the world you see. That's where a professional cleaning service can be a game changer. How about the best of both worlds. A nice clean home that makes you happy and comfortable and gives you the space and ability to live the way you want.....but someone else is spending the time to keep it that way. You can get on with living, get on with spending time with the kids get on with living your life. Cleaning, laundry and ironing services from QuickCleaner start from just £9 per hour! Small price to pay for a life unwasted

The difference between cleaning and sanitising

27/10/2018

Cleaning and sanitising (sanitizing for our American readers!) are word often used incorrectly to describe the same thing. You can clean without and sanitising and you can also sanitise something without cleaning.

In most cases, especially areas of your home such as kitchens and bathrooms that can be home to high levels of pathogens you need to be cleaning AND santising to ensure you have a safe, healthy and pleasant environment.

To put it simply: Cleaning is the process of removing visible dirt, residue, debris or any unwanted items from somewhere or something. When you wipe up split milk from a table top you are cleaning. IE removing most of the milk from where you don't want it to be however it is worth noting that you are not necessarily removing or eliminating pathogens and micro-organisms such as bacteria. viruses and amoeba
Picture
Sanitising or disinfecting is the process of removing, destroying or denaturing these micro organisms. Contrary to what you might think it is possible to sanitise without cleaning. using an alcohol hand gel on muddy hands is a good example. Where the gel may kill or denature the harmful bacteria in to soil on your hands it doesn't actively remove the dirt itself. So you can have muddy hands that are not carrying any or at least not many germs.
Picture
For Proper deep home cleaning you should follow a process that is simply: Clean and then Sanitise. In high risk areas such as kitchens you will first clean all surfaces with a soap type cleaner and remove all visible dirt and stains and tidy up any mess. Once the surfaces are completely clear to the eye you should apply an antibacterial cleaning product to kill any remaining pathogens and micro organisms. Most hard surfaces like kitchen tops then need cleaning to remove any residue of the cleaning products to avoid any streaks or watermarks and leave you with a gleaming, clean surface that you could eat off.

We don't sell cleaning services, we sell time!

You don't buy a clean house you buy time and you can spend that time on the things that really matter (not dusting down the side of the fridge!)

I remember passing a surfing shop once and it has a big banner with the phrase:

"We don't sell boats, we sell time on the water"

That really got us thinking and it transformed our business.
Picture
It is fair to say there are too many reasons to hire a cleaner than we could ever list. The big ones include:
  • Having someone who can take care of the cleaning jobs you hate
  • Helping someone stay independent in their own home
  • Getting an expert clean or achieving a level of deep clean that you couldn't achieve on your own
  • The joy and pleasure a fresh clean bright house can bring (fresh sheets anyone!)
But this post is about one of the biggest: Saving Time. Life never stops, if you are a hard working professional or in a busy family or maybe someone who can't clean as fast as they used to then getting a cleaner in from a little as £9 can be a game changer. No more spending your precious free time following a hoover round the house or scrubbing the toilet. You don't buy cleaning services you buy Time and that is beyond value.

Who knows perhaps you will even discover a love of surfing in the time you save every week.

How to descale a Dishwasher

The Best Way to Clear Limescale from inside your Dishwasher

Picture
The Dishwasher is probably the most time saving device you have in your kitchen. You need to keep your dishwasher in a great condition to prolong it's life and also to make it safe and hygienic for all the cutlery and dishes it cleans for you. You certainly do not want a build up of bacteria, mold or mildew in there!

One of the most important steps is descaling. IE removing build ups of limescale and other deposits left by hard water. You need to do this fairly regularly from Month to every six months depending on how hard your water is. The good news is that it is relatively easy and in expensive to do and you won't need any expensive cleaning products

What You'll Need:
  • Vinegar
  • Glass  measuring Jug
The technique is simple. In an empty dishwasher place the jug on the top shelf and fill it with 300-500ml of vinegar. Run the dishwasher on a quick cycle without drying. The vinegar will mix with the water as the cycle goes on spreading it to all areas of the dishwasher and dissolving all limescale and water deposits.
The best part is that because you only used vinegar and not caustic chemicals there is no danger to you or anyone in the house and the dishwasher can be used immediately without any worries.

Of Course dishwash descaling and dishwasher cleaning can be added to the schedule of jobs for your QuickCleaner cleaner. Visit our main site to find your perfect cleaner in Cardiff, Cleaner in Swindon or Cleaner in Portsmouth
